Scho-Ka-Kola

Scho-Ka-Kola is more than chocolate — it is a piece of military history. Born in Berlin in 1935 and famously known as the Luftwaffe's "aviator's chocolate," it remains one of the world's most iconic natural energy supplements to this day. 200mg of caffeine, an unchanged recipe, and a legendary tin that has stood the test of time.

Scho-Ka-Kola — Legendary Energy Chocolate with Over 90 Years of History

Some products become legends. Scho-Ka-Kola is one of them. This German energy chocolate was created in Berlin in 1935 at the Hildebrand Kakao- und Schokoladenfabrik and was always something more than just a confection. By 1936, it debuted at the Berlin Olympics under the name "sport chocolate" — promoted as a performance aid for athletes seeking enhanced endurance and mental focus.

But Scho-Ka-Kola's true legend was forged during World War II. Issued as a standard ration to Luftwaffe pilots, it earned the iconic nickname "Fliegerschokolade" — aviator's chocolate. Pilots, submarine crews, tank operators, and infantry all received it to maintain combat readiness during long night missions and grueling operations. Even captured American soldiers received it as a gesture of respect — and described it as "pure luxury."

The secret of Scho-Ka-Kola is built right into its name: Schokolade (chocolate) + Kaffee (coffee) + Kolanuss (kola nut). This trio of natural caffeine sources creates the product's unique effect. Each 100g tin contains approximately 200mg of caffeine — equivalent to two espresso shots or two energy drinks — with zero artificial additives or synthetic stimulants.

Classic dark Scho-Ka-Kola contains 58% cocoa content, complemented by roasted coffee and kola nut powder. The result is an intense, rich, slightly bitter taste unlike anything else. No unnecessary ingredients, no compromises — just powerful, honest chocolate for those who need a real boost.

The brand's packaging is a legend in its own right. The round metal tin has remained virtually unchanged since the 1930s. Inside, 16 triangular wedges of chocolate are arranged in two layers. Red tin for dark chocolate, blue for milk chocolate, and green for hazelnut. This packaging has become a cultural icon, instantly recognized worldwide.

Today, Scho-Ka-Kola is produced by the independent Scho-Ka-Kola GmbH in Berlin. Despite nine decades passing, the recipe remains unchanged — because true classics need no revision. The chocolate is beloved by military personnel, hikers, hunters, athletes, and anyone who values a proven, all-natural energy boost in a compact, reliable form.
